Upward Bound Program Aims to Help Students with Financial Needs

Upcoming University of Guam students can look forward to a program to assist their financial needs.

“The Upward Bound Program” – aims to help first-generation high school students who are gearing up to go to college after graduation.

Participating high schools include George Washington, John F. Kennedy, Okkodo, Simon Sanchez, Southern, Tiyan, private schools, and charter schools approved by the U.S. Department of Education.

The Eligibility requirements include: being a first-generation college student and coming from a low-income household, as determined by low-income guidelines.

A 2.5 GPA or greater.

Furthermore, the student must be in grades 9-12 in high school and be a citizen of the United States, CNMI, the Marshall Islands, Palau, the FSM, and other U.S. territories or be a permanent U.S. resident.

The deadline to enroll for first priority of the school year 2022-2023 is Friday, October 28, 2022.

The second priority is Friday, December 16, 2022.

The third priority is Friday, January 27, 2023.

And the Summer 2023 deadline is May 19, 2023.
