U.S. Attorney’s Office for Guam & CNMI Hauls in $4.5 M in Fines and Penalties During FY 2010


Guam – The Guam & CNMI U.S. Attorney’s Office collected $4,538,883.21 in fines and penalties during FY 2010.

Of that amount, $191,657.53 was collected in criminal actions and $4,347,225.68 was collected in civil actions.

That amount is part of a record collection year for U.S. Attornys’ Offices nationwide.

According to a release from Guam-CNMI U.S. Attorney, Alicia Limtiaco, financial collections by the Department of Justice in criminal and civil actions during the 2010 Fiscal year reached $9.68 billion, an time high.

There are 94 U.S. Attorneys’ offices nationwide. 

In a release, U.S. Attorney Limtiaco is quoted as saying: “The U.S. Attorney’s Office is committed to protecting the public and recovering funds for victims of federal crimes. We will continue to hold accountabl;e those who violate our laws and who seek to exploit others and profit from their illegal activities. During this time of economic recovery, these collections in our criminal and civil actions are more important than ever.”
