U.S. Naval Base Guam will be conducting its annual anti-terrorism force protection exercise, known as Citadel Pacific 2019, next week
Exercise Citadel Pacific 2019 is an annual training exercise designed to enhance readiness of personnel and not in response to any specific threat.
The exercise will take place from Monday, June 24 to Friday, June 28.
Conducted by the Commander of the US Pacific Fleet and the Commander of the Navy Installations Command, this exercise will be replicating realistic training scenarios in the event of a potential threat such as a terrorist attack.
Residents are advised to not be alarmed if they see or hear security activities associated with the exercise, such as fired blank ammunition. Coordination with local law enforcement and first responders have been arranged to control the area.
In addition, this exercise may increase traffic and pedestrian congestion around bases or delays in base access.
