
The public affairs office aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt has issued a statement reporting that one of its F/A-18F Super Hornets crashed into the Philippine Sea Thursday.
The pilot and the weapons officer ejected safely and were recovered by an MH-60S helicopter from Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron, according to the statement from the carrier’s public affairs office.
The accident occurred while the fighter jet was conducting routine pilot proficiency training. The plan was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 11.
Both airmen were assessed by the medical team on board the USS Roosevelt and are in good condition.
The incident is under investigation.
