Vandals Damage 13 Classrooms at Oceanview Middle School

Guam – Vandals damaged 13 classrooms at Oceanview Middle School in Agat over the weekend.

School Principal Linda Heranadez Avilla told PNC News that when employees arrived at the school this morning they found that 13 classrooms had been damaged. Fire extinguishers had been sprayed on the walls and desks, class projects were overturned and thrown on the floor. A $700 dollar water blaster was also stolen.

Avilla said that as a result of the damage, some classes have had to be moved to the cafeteria, teacher prep areas and the school library.

This latest vandalism follows a break in at the school a week ago Friday when laptops, CD players, telephones and 3M projectors were stolen along witha set of master keys to the school.

Some of the laptops were the personal property of some teachers.

Avilla called the recent acts of vandalism “disgusting” and “disappointing.”

A report has been filed with the Guam Police Department. Anyone with any information about the vandalism is asked to call Guam CrimeStoppers at 477-HELP.
