Two Guam police officers sustained minor injuries after a vehicle struck their patrol car and then fled the scene this morning.

Guam police spokesman Sgt. Paul Tapao says it happened just before 10:30 a.m. outside the new Central Precinct Command on Route 4 in Sinajana.

It tied up traffic in the area for more than an hour.

Sgt. Tapao said a person of interest has been identified and they are looking for him now.

“It was determined that it was more now leaning towards an aggravated assault or assault on police officers,” Tapao said.

The initial crash happened in the precinct parking lot. Tapao could not say what motivated it. The vehicle then fled and struck another car on Route 4.

“We have identified a person of interest and we are exhausting all our personnel resources or utilizing our personal time in locating this individual,” Tapao said.

The two officers that were in the police cruiser suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
