Guam – Guam Homeland Security and the Office of Civil Defense today turned over two ventilator systems to the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (GMHA) which will augment their inventory of critical care and life sustaining equipment.
Nearly $110,000 in federal funding through the FY 2006 US Department of Homeland Security’s Grant Program (HSGP) was used to fund this purchase and support Guam’s medical surge improvement projects.
The Puritan Bennet 840 ventilator systems can deliver precise breaths to critically ill neonatal through adult patients. The systems promise high-performance pneumatics and dual microprocessor electronics.
The HSGP has also provided additional funding to help train health personnel on the new systems.
