Veterans Affairs Honors 150+ For Success Of Memorial Day Event

Guam- About 150 people were at the Latte of freedom site for a special awards ceremony on Thursday.

The Office of Veterans Affairs hosted the special ceremony to honor those who helped and participated in the planning, coordination and performance of this year’s memorial day event. Chairman Tim Cunliffe says this is the first time something like this was done. However, they hope to continue the event on an annual basis.

“This is a way to recognize them for the hard work they’ve done and also the folks who are on duty” said Cunliffe. “They’re the ones that ensure we have our freedom today. And we need to celebrate our freedom everyday and we need to celebrate our veterans every single day.”

Governor Eddie Calvo and Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio were also in attendance, as well as various veterans and servicemen.
