This is the first time the vice speaker named the priest he alleges molested him when he was in high school.
Guam – Vice Speaker BJ Cruz recounted the sexual abuse he experienced at the hands of a priest when he was in high school and for the first time in 40 years, he named the priest who molested him.
Several years ago, for the first time, Vice Speaker BJ Cruz revealed that he had been molested by a priest when he was in high school. It came as a shock to the community then but at the time, the vice speaker would not name the priest.
Today, in a very candid interview with NewsTalk K57 Host Patti Arroyo, Cruz finally revealed the priest’s name.
“It was 40 years that I kept quiet about the fact that I had been sexually assaulted by a priest when I was in high school,” said Cruz. “I didn’t tell family members, I didn’t tell my best friend, I didn’t tell Johnny and we were together for almost 20 years.”
Arroyo: “Who was your priest?”
“His name was Titian Miani,” Cruz answered.
Vice Speaker Cruz’s revelation comes just a few days after Roy Taitague Quintanilla accused Archbishop Anthony Apuron of sexually molesting him 40 years earlier.
Cruz did not explain why he finally chose to go public today and reveal the priest’s name, but he did indicate that he empathized with Quintanilla.
