Guam – Vice-Speaker B.J. Cruz says that someone needs to be prosecuted for raiding the child support trust fund.

During a budget hearing for the Attorney General last week it was revealed that the administration had taken $6.1 million from the child support trust fund. The Vice-Speaker believes that this was an illegal act because those child support funds are held in trust until the Attorney General’s Office can distribute the funds. Cruz says coincidentally the amount of $6.1 million is the same amount that GovGuam payroll costs for one payday.

“Somebody should have to face some kind of charges for that. That’s six million dollars. I don’t care if you were told to pay it back and you paid it back in one day or if it was two weeks later whatever it was you never should have touched that money and you should be prosecuted for it,” said Cruz. The Vice-Speaker says both the Attorney General and the U.S. Attorney should look into this.
