VIDEO: Deal Struck to Continue Double Session Busing to GW, Could End Up Costing $500K

Guam – Officials from the Guam Department of Education and the Department of Public Works sat down Wednesday to hammer out a new agreement on busing for double sessions at George Washington High School.

Earlier this week, Guam DOE announced that the double sessions at GW would be extended because the re-furbishing of 17 classrooms there is not yet complete.

However, no agreement was reached with DPW which has been providing the bus service for the double session. Deputy DOE Superintendent Robert Malay said the double-session busing schedule maybe needed through the entire second semester.

And DPW Director Joanne Brown responded that as long as Guam DOE is paying for it, they can continue to provide busesing for the double sessions at GW.

The total cost for providing double session busing services to GW, including fuel and driver overtime, may end up being close to a half-million dollars.
