Guam – The Micronesian Chef’s association is holding it’s second annual “Maila Ta Fan Chesa” event at the Sheraton Laguna Guam resort Ocean Sirena ballroom Friday night.
Maila Ta Fan Chesa is Chamorro for come and let’s eat some appetizers. Tonight’s event will feature eight of Guam’s top chef’s who will collaborate to prepare an array of appetizers desserts and beverages highlighting 6 locally grown produce items from the farmer’s co-op.
They’ll be using laguana or sour sop, kamuti or sweet potato, mint or jep bu buena, ates or sweet sop and calamansi or lime. MCA President Chef Peter Duenas explains:
“essentially you can come in there and try six different beverages, six different appetizers and six different desserts all prepared locally with locally farmed products and you know we’re highlighting the farmers co-op which has come together and now producing quite a few locally farmed products and we’re trying to create sustainability and also most importantly it’s a fund raiser for culinary scholarships with the Guam Community College culinary arts program,” said Chef Duenas.
The event begins at six but tickets are still on sale at the door at the Sheraton Ocean Sirena ballroom.
