Guam – In commemoration of Presidents Day yesterday, the District Court of Guam held a special naturalization ceremony this morning at the District Court.
36 people took the oath of citizenship. They hailed from Mexico, China, the Philippines and Taiwan.
The keynote Speaker was U.S. Attorney Alicia Limtiaco.
She told the new citizens: “Each of you has taken your oath of allegiance and as new citizens, we look forward to the many valuable and unique contributions that each of you will make in shaping the future of our country for our families and children. As we welcome our new citizens, we remind ourselves that our nation is a nation of immigrants, a nation that celebrates and promotes diversity, equality and respect for human rights and human dignity.”
Representatives from the Guam Election Commission and the Guam Passport Office were on hand to enable the new citizens to register to vote, and apply for a U.S. passport, immediately following the ceremony.
