(Barrigada, Guam –– Thurs., September 12, 2012) Guahan Napu Inc.and Monster Energy Drink are presenting the fourth annual Monster Energy Surf the Basin surfing and body-boarding competition on Oct. 6 at Hagatna Boat Basin. In addition to Monster Energy Drink, the event is supported by Primo Surf, PROA Restaurant, Fokai Industries, Lotus Surf Shop, DaKine, DNA Evo, Docomo Pacific, Tumon Bay Lobster and Grill and the Fishermenʼs Co-op.
This yearʼs event will have a Gender Neutral Open Surfing (shortboard), Gender Neutral Open Longboard surfing, Menʼs Open Body-Boarding, Womenʼs Open Body-Boarding and a Gender Neutral Juniors (17/under) surfing categories.
Registration for the contest is on Oct. 5 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Laguna Association pavilion at Paseo de Susana Statue of Liberty beach park. Competition
entrance fee is $30 per category. Guahan Napu is holding a mandatory meeting on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Fishermenʼs Co-op for its members and individuals who are interested to compete in the event. A judging clinic will be held on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at a location to be advised. More details will be provided at the Sept. 7 meeting.
