VIDEO: 9W Steers Clear of Guam

Guam – A tropical depression that prompted Governor Calvo and the National Weather Service to adopt Condition of readiness 1(COR 1) last Friday night avoided Guam and left clear skies on Saturday.

Although the NWS had identified a decoupling of the weather system, a sign of the storm weakening on Friday night, the NWS did not want to downgrade from COR 1 to COR 4 due to the proximity of the storm.

The storm eventually passed the Rota Channel early on Saturday morning, where Guam was subjected to the weak Southern section of the storm.

The storm has now been upgraded to Typhoon Ramassun and will reach Luzon by Wednesday morning.
