Guam – It was a great game between two great teams where no lead was safe. With a very tight first place race, every game at this point is an important one for all teams.
Last night the AK Islanders pulled off a tough win against the Bank of Guam A’s that went down to the final out.
In the bottom of the fifth with no outs and runners in the corners, Jim Reyes ties the game at 2 with one straight to the shortstop and the A’s make a nice 6 4 3 double play.
Top of sixth, still tied at two with two on and one out Shon Muna Jr. grounds one past the thirdbaseman to load the bases.
Ryan Martinez would strike out but Roke Alcantara Jr. would ground one past the second baseman which would be good for a 2 RBI single and give the A’s a narrow 4-2 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh Miller Santos hit a 2 run homer to tie the game at 4. With the game tied 4-4 all the way to the ninth the A’s would take a 6-4 lead only to lose it at the bottom of the ninth thanks to TC Cruz’s game winning RBI.
AK beat the A’s 7-6. Now both teams are tied in second at 5-3. JD San Nicolas got the win and recorded one strikeout. Santos was 1-2 with a homer.
Tomorrow night the 76 Cardinals will play the Agana Heights Docomo Cougars. Game starts at 7 at Paseo Stadium.
