Guam – Governor Eddie Calvo has signed the contract for the Bile and Pigua bridge projects to begin in Merizo this summer.
Department of Public Works Director Carl Dominguez spoke about the bridge replacements, and other road projects at today’s Rotary Club of Guam meeting.
The ground breaking for the Merizo construction will be celebrated on July 2nd.
Dominguez also said construction is nearly completed on the Hagatna Bridge, but advises everyone to plan for the closure of the Chalan Santo Papa Bridge beginning tomorrow.
Director Dominguez doesn’t believe the closure of the road from Route 8 to Route 4 will interrupt the flow of the traffic too much.
“We now have the two left turn lanes coming down Route 8 to go onto Route 1,” Dominguez noted. “I think the traffic studies show that we shouldn’t have any problems with getting traffic down Route 8 onto Route 1. And the alternative is to go down East O’Brien Drive past the swimming pool if you’re going for example to Sinajana or from Sinajana down to Chalan Pago and beyond.”
Road projects are also ongoing along Route 4 near Jeff’s Pirates Cove, on Cross Island Road, and an intersection along Macheche road.
