Guam – The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) hosted “Lunch with the Boss” this afternoon at the Westin Resort.
“Lunch with the Boss” is one of the key programs ESGR hosts to assist, educate and inform employers on issues that affect Guard and Reserve employees.
National Guard Public Affairs Officer Major Josephine Blas said about 50 employers today were briefed about the Federal Law Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act as well as combat stress and other psychological issues.
“We just hope it provides an understanding of the law that protect the service members’ rights to serve in the military as well as be employed in their company. By providing that education, it creates more of a harmonious working environment,” said Major Blas.
Major Blas also hopes that with the briefing, employers are able to spot signs of mental distress among service member employees so they can encourage them to seek help when the need arises.
