Guam- About 200 outstanding employers were recognized during a special luncheon for their support of employees that are also military service members.
The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) hosted an awards ceremony at the Marriott today [Tuesday] where employers received patriotic awards and enjoyed a meal on their dime.
ESGR Program Administrator Major Josephine Blas says almost all the employers at their awards recognition luncheon were nominated by the Guam National Guard members of the 1st Battalion, 294th Infantry Regiment that are deployed to Afghanistan for one year.
Blas says this is their way of showing how thankful they are for the support of Guam’s patriotic employers.
“The service members, they just wanted to make sure that their employers knew how much they appreciated their support,” said Blas. “Even though as they’re leaving into country, they know that their employers are supportive and when they get back, they’ll have a job when they get back.”
Blas says ESGR is also preparing for its annual employer awards banquet, which is scheduled sometime this June.
