VIDEO: Espada Nets 23 Goals In Men’s Soccer; Golden Hoops Playoffs


Harmon, Guam – Espada FC men’s soccer team racked up ‘points for’ in their most recent outting in the Budweiser Men’s Soccer League.  Espada FC manhandled Doosan FC 23-0.  Goalscorers for Espada are Elias Merfalen (4), Mark Chargualaf (3), Thaddeus Atalig (3), Dylan Naputi (2), Christian Schweizer (2), Ian Mariano (2), Donovan Merfalen (2), Nick Roberto (2), Jon Odell (2) and Gen Fudo (1).

Bud Light Golden Hoops Classic Playoffs

Bud Light Golden Hoops Classic (GHC) 2012 Fall Tournament hosted an exciting night of first round double elimination playoff games on Wednesday at Tamuning Gym in the 18 plus men’s varsity division.

In the final game of the night Team IX seeded 7 earned a victory over the seed 8 Sixers Club 64-57 advancing in the winner’s bracket to play seed 2 Tamuning Typhoons. The Sixers drop down to the loser’s bracket.

Team IX took control of the lead throughout the game when Sixers Stefan Whitehurst and Vince Espinal Jr. found all net behind a hot shooting spree to take the lead 57-54 with two minutes remaining in the game.

Team IX turned to veteran player Fred Peters who scored six points in the paint to seal the win advancing to the next round in the winner’s bracket.

Peters scored 21 points and teammate Nilo Colitoy chipped in 15 points. Sixers Whitehurst scored a game high 23 points followed by Espinal with 22 points.

Other game results:

Seed 9-Malesso Rebels 64, Seed 8-Legacy Club 54. Rebels Jordan Chargualaf scored 19 points and Jermain Perez scored 17 points. Legacy’s Rodrigo Grande Jr. scored a game high 30 points in the loss.

Seed 6-Four Stars 94, Seed 11-SPPC 76 Club 57. Four Stars JackyJoe Rudolph scored 22 points and Jayme Saperna scored 20 points. SPPC’s Aris Santiago scored 33 points.

Seed 5-Inarajan Hawks 93, Seed 12-GWC 58. Hawks Javis Duenas and Joshua Flores scored 17 points a piece followed by Gerald Paulino with 16 points and Michael Borja with 14 points. GWC Rey Sablan scored 25 points and Jeff Sablan scored 15 points.

Playoffs continue on Friday in the 18 plus men’s varsity division starting at 6:30pm with the final game being played at 8:30pm.
