Guam – Some good news over at the Guam Memorial Hospital. CEO Joe Verga says they will soon be offering hip and joint replacement services at the hospital.
Verga says they hope to begin offering the services by mid-June. The program was spearheaded by Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Ruben Arafiles, who will serve as the program director. Verga says GMH has been working on developing this program for a few years and they are proud to be able to offer this service to Guam residents.
“It’s a state-of-the-art joint implants here at GMH. It’s never been offered on island before. Folks who needed joint replacement have typically had to go off island for them and now they’ll be able to stay on island,” he explains.
Verga adds that the joint replacement program is consistent with GMH’s strategic plan to be able to offer more outpatient services to the community.
