Guam – A pipe bomb , 20 firearms and 15 grams of crystal meth were seized Friday night during a raid on an Agana Heights home.

Guam Police Spokesman Officer A.J. Balajadia reports that GPD Special Investigations, SWAT, agents with the ATF Task Force and Guam Customs executed the warrant about 9pm at a residence on Passan Drive in Agana Heights.

49 year old Daniel Untalan Mesa was arrested on charges of  Felon in Illegal Possession of Explosives, and Felon in Illegal Possession of Firearms, says Balajadia in a release [see full release below].

Mesa is a convicted felon and is not allowed to posses firearms. In September of  2005 he was found guilty of  Drug User in Possession of Firearms, and Ammunition and a Drug User in Possession of an Explosive Device. 

ATF took Mesa into custody and he was charged in District Court Saturday with “Felon in Possession of  Firearms.”

According to the complaint filed against Mesa by the U.S. Attorney, a search of Mesa’s bedroom turned up 4 firearms concealed within a false wall within the bedroom. Mesa admitted placing the firearms there telling investigators that he “acquired the firearm through trading of methamphetamine. “ He also told the ATF that “he had a .45 caliber pistol located within ammunition can in a storage locker in the garage.” That weapon was also recovered.

 

In addition, investigators also found an Improvised Explosive Device [IED] inside a stainless steel chest during their search of the garage. “Mesa admitted that he manufactured the IED for experimental purposes,” states the complaint. 

Mesa is a convicted felon and is not allowed to posses firearms. In September of  2005 he was found guilty of  Drug User in Possession of Firearms, and Ammunition and a Drug User in Possession of an Explosive Device.

The ATF took Mesa into custody and made his first appearance in District Court this past Saturday. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 5th.

The firearms seized are:

*Norinco rifle Model SKS 762-39, serial no. 1804832P
*Marlin Rifle Model No. 1894 GS 357 caliber, serial no. obliterated
*Remington shotgun, Model Wingmaster 870, 12 gauge, serial no. obliterated
* Marlin rifle Model 336CS, 30/30 caliber, serial no. 14090512
* Match 45 caliber pistol

AGANA HEIGHTS, Agents with the ATF Task Force, Special Investigations Section, Special Operations Division (SWAT and K9 Unit) and the Customs and Quarantine K9 Unit executed a Search Warrant on a residence on Passan Drive Agana Heights, Friday, March 22, 2013 at around 9:00pm.

DANIEL MESA was arrest for, Felon in Illegal Possession of Explosives and Felon in Illegal Possession of Firearms.  

Agents confiscated about 20 assorted firearms (rifles and small arms), Pipe bomb, California seal, and around 15grams of suspected Crystal Methamphetamine.

EOD assisted with the confiscations of the home made pipe bomb and assorted ammunitions.
