Guam – The director for Guahan Academy Charter School hopes to announce a location for the opening of the school later this week.
Donna Dwiggins told PNC today that there are two possible locations that the school could use as a temporary campus when it opens on October 24th. According to Dwiggins the school is ironing out a lease agreement and she hopes the location can be announced on Wednesday.

“We have teachers, we have a curriculum,” Dwiggins said adding that the only struggle has been finding a facility within the school’s budget of $5,500 per pupil.
Guahan Academy has also been eying unused space in the Core Tech facility in Tiyan which currently houses Untalan Middle School. Dwiggins says the Tiyan space is the ideal location for the school.
“We’re lobbying for local support from the legislature and the Governor’s office” Dwiggins said
The charter school will first open as a literacy academy for 7th through 10th graders with plans to offer kindergarten through 12th grade next school year.
