Guam – Guam-born singer-songwriter, model and actress Pia Mia is back on island and ready to showcase her talent at several performances this week.
With Guam Live! International Music Festival coming up this weekend, there’s been a lot of talk about Guam-born 17 year old star Pia Mia.
Pia Mia Perez was born in Guam on September 1996 and had a passion for singign since she was 8. Pia began her music career by posting videos of herself singing on Youtube at age 11 and since then gained about 5 million views on her YouTube channel. Pia moved to Los Angeles with her family in hopes to pursue her dream of being a star and now she is a singer-songwriter, model and actress. At Patti Arroyo’s Show on K57 this morning, Pia boasts about her Guam roots.
She said, “Honestly, it doesn’t feel real. It hasn’t hit me. I was signed into Interscope this past December and everything’s just been going by so fast I can’t even believe it. To be able to come back home and see everyone and share this with everyone just really means a lot to me because I wouldn’t be here without everyone from Guam. Guam has made me. Without your support, without my family, and the wolf pack here and everyone here, I wouldn’t be what I am and where I am.”
Pia is best known for her song “Fight For You” featured on the 2014 science fiction film Divergrent. She also announced that she will be releasing her debut album sometime this summer. “We’re working on the album now. We’ve been working on it for six months now. Trying to get it done as soon as possible. We’ll hopefully have a single soon,” she said.
Pia will be holding an exclusive dinner show tonight at the Westin Resort with portions of the proceeds to benefit Unicef. Then on Saturday, she will be part of the Guam Visitors Bureau’s Guam Live! International Music Festival at Paseo Stadium.
