Guam – The U.S. Attorney’s Office at the District Court of Guam together with village mayors and community partners will be holding a candlelight vigil tomorrow to commemorate Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
Along with activities such as workshops and community outreach events, the Guam Human Trafficking Task Force will hold a candlelight vigil to spread awareness and to help prevent human trafficking.
U.S. Attorney Alicia Limtiaco encourages the community to participate in the candlelight vigil because she said human trafficking does not only happen internationally but in our island as well. “This candlelight vigil is a symbolic event that is to bring together various members of our community to say with one voice that we stand against and are prepared to reach out to community members to protect families and children against human trafficking,” said Limtiaco.
A candlelight vigil will take place in every village at 6 PM tomorrow. For more information on how to participate in the event, contact your respective villages.
