Guam – Residents and service members looking to find a job were all dressed up and handing out their resumes today at a job fair held at Westin.
The Department of Labor, the Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association along with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve held a job fair this morning with a list of employers ranging from the hotel industry to distributors.
ESGR Project Manager Bina Jo Garcia said they decided to hold a joint job fair to assist the service members that just returned from deployment find a job and to help the new hotels recruit their staff. She said, “We have two new hotels that are opening, such as Dhusit Thani and Lotte, so there’s a lot of job opportunities for the public and guards men and women.”
Guard Member Timothy Chargualaf, who received a certificate by completing the Keep Your Guard Up Program, said, “The programs they have for Keep Your Guard Up! is a fast track 90-day program that helps soldiers get trained for events like this. They help with workshops to help soldiers get used to interviews, resumes and how to apply for jobs.”
Garcia adds that GHRA is planning on having another job fair sometime in August.
