Guam – The Department of Revenue and Taxation was busy today, but not as busy as April 15th has been in previous years.
Rev and Tax Director John Camacho says there were about 10,000 to 15,000 more early filers this year than last year. He credits the early filing to the quick payment of tax refund checks.
“If you look at the numbers we’ve paid out at least… 20% of the filers that are expecting refunds already,” Camacho told PNC.
Camacho said the majority of people at Rev and Tax today were tax filers who had to pay the government or were there to request more time to get their paperwork together.
Rev and Tax also had satellite stations set up at the Agana Shopping Center and Micronesia Mall yesterday and today for late filers. If you haven’t filed already, there is still time, a drop box will be available outside of the Rev and Tax building in Barrigada tonight until midnight.
