Guam – The Guam Visitors Bureau and Pleasure Island have annoucned the results of the inaugural Guam BBQ Block Party Competition, which took place on Saturday, May 11, from 5:30pm to 10pm in Pleasure Island in Tumon.
The Guam BBQ Block Party was designed to enhance Guam’s visitors experience while also drawing in our local community.
The event successfully showcased Guam’s unique BBQ styles through a competitive BBQ cook off competition, in addition to featuring local cultural groups and live music as well as restaurants, and local goods from artisans throughout the island. The BBQ competition results are as follows:
BEEF: 1st ASU SMOKEHOUSE; 2nd GODZILLA BOWL; 3rd PROA TUMON
PORK: 1st MESKLA; 2nd PACIFIC ISLAND GRILLERS; 3rd SMOKE
CHICKEN: 1st MESKLA; 2nd PROA TUMON; 3rd PACIFIC ISLAND GRILLERS
GRAND Champion: MESKLA; Reserve Champion: PACIFIC ISLAND GRILLERS

“The inaugural BBQ Block Party was a great opportunity for Guam to showcase the Hafa Adai spirit through this perfect blend of local ingredients and the best of the best presenting both inventive and time-honored recipes,” says Karl Pangelinan, Guam Visitors Bureau General Manager. “As we commemorate Tourism Month, along with GVB’s 50th Anniversary, this was one new and innovative way to get people and families, both visitors and local residents alike, to celebrate our culture through food and entertainment.”
