VIDEO: Officials Inspect Progress Inside Okkodo as Ribbon Cut on Traffic Signal Outside to Improve Flow of Traffic Into Expanded High School


Guam –  A new traffic signal was activated at the entrance to Okkodo High School on Route 3 in Dededo this morning.

The new traffic light is part of the expansion project at the school. Prior to activation ceremony at the intersection public officials toured the the new part of the campus.

“We’ll be adding a culinary classroom that will enable us to really fulfill that expectation here to be able to serve the culinary arts program,” Fernandez said of the project. “We have a brand new dining facility which we needed. The cafeteria right now is just really packed during lunch time.”

The project also adds 23 standard classrooms, seven science labs, an electronic lab, drama lab, four Special Education resource classrooms, additional boys’ and girls’ lockers and showers, and more.

Construction for the $21.8 Million is expected to be completed by July 7 of this year.  The project adds 70,000 square feet of space to the facility, allowing the school’s student population to expand to 2,000 from its current population of 1,200.
