Guam – In celebration of Chamorro Month, the Port Authority of Guam hosted a traditional fiesta today.
The Port’s Silibrasion Mes Chamorro featured demonstrations of Guam’s traditional cooking, weaving, carving wood and included displays of Chamorro cultural artifacts and live animals.
Going with this year’s theme Plan the Seeds of Our Heritage Among Our Children the Port family invited the public to the event.
Port General Manager Joanne Brown said, “It’s our celebration in honor of Chamorro Month. Today is also part of the judging contest so our people here are very hopeful with all the time and effort they put into our little village that we have a good shot of winning this year. It’s an exciting time it’s certainly not something we get to do every day but I think it’s important to recognize and honor our heritage and the Port Authority is definitely doing that today.”
