Guam – A private investor in a potential new prison system is on Guam and toured the Department of Corrections this morning.
The company is called CGL and is an affiliate of Hunt Companies, a real estate firm. Internal Affairs Officer Jeff Limo says the potential investors took a tour of the DOC compound this morning to get an idea of what kind of work and investment would need to be made to rebuild Guam’s outdated correctional facility.
According to CGL’s website, the company plans, designs, constructs and manages correctional, criminal justice and government facilities.
“I could assure you if they’ve been building prisons around the world, they’re gonna see a layout that they’ve never seen before and that’s because most prisons in the world–and I have made several visits to some of them and the layout is not like this, it’s actually spread out it’s actually sky risen prison where it would be more controlled and the security will be more tight,” Limo says.
Limo adds that CGL is the first private investor to tour DOC, but he expects more potential investors to visit Guam and tour the facility as well.
