VIDEO: “Fast Freddie” Quinata Accused of 5 Armed Robberies Within a 7 Day Stretch

Guam – GPD’s Criminal Justice Strike Force arrested  29 year old Fred Samuel Quinata at a home in Dededo Friday night, accusing him of carrying out 5 armed robberies within a 7 day period.

Quinata is from Yigo  and according to a release from GPD Officer A.J. Balajadia, he is also known as “‘Fast Freddie’ a name he earned for his ability to avoid capture from law enforcement officials”.

The 5 armed robberies occurred within a 7 day stretch starting with the May 13th robbery of the Santa Anita Mart in Yigo and ending with the May 20 armed robbery of the the Lada Mart in Dededo.

1. May 13, 9:24pm, Robbery – Santa Anita Mart, Yigo
2.  May 15, 2:20am, Robbery – Tamuning Plaza, Tamuning;
3. May 16, 3:30am Robbery – Winster Gameroom, Upper Tumon
4. May 19, 3:10pm, Robbery – Old Spanish Bridge Mart, Agat
5. May 20, 10:15pm, Robbery – Lada Mart, Dededo

In 3 of  the cases witnesses said a pistol was used, in one case a witness said the robber had a shotgun, and in another case the weapon was described as a hunting rifle. There were no injuries in any of the armed robberies.

During his interrogation, Officer Balajadia says that “Quinata told investigators that he was robbing for money to buy his minor son eye glasses, but instead he spent the money to support his drug habit.”

He was booked and confined at the Hagatna lockup Saturday morning on 5 counts of  Robbery, 5 counts of  Terrorizing, 5 Counts of  Guilt Established by Complicity,  5 Counts of  Use of a Weapon in Commission of a Felony; 5 Counts Theft of Property; and Resisting Arrest

Officer Balajadia says Quinata was last arrested in Janaury “after robbing a Gameroom. Although no-one was injured during the robbery Quinata used a Hammer and a sword to threaten Gameroom patrons”.

It is not clear why he was released.

The 5 stores Quinata is accused of robbing are:

1. May 13, 9:24pm, Robbery – Santa Anita Mart, Yigo 

A male individual entered the Santa Anita Mart in Yigo brandishing a pistol demanding the cashier open the cash register.  The individual then reaches over the counter and forces the register open taking an unknown amount of cash before fleeing out the front door in an unknown direction.

2. May 15, 2:20am, Robbery – Tamuning Plaza, Tamuning

“A male individual enter the Tamuning Plaza hotel and approached the front desk clerk and brandishing a silver pistol from underneath his sweater demanding money.  The individual instructed the clerk to open the safe which was situated in the office area.  The clerk then walked to the office followed by the suspect who intern demanded the cash within the cash register.  The individual grabbed the money from the cash register order the clerk to the ground and then fled on foot in unknown direction.”

3. May 16, 3:30am Robbery – Winster Gameroom, Upper Tumon 

“A male individual entered the Winster Gameroom brandishing what witnesses reported to be a shotgun which forced several occupants to the ground.  Individual then demanded money and made off with the cash register’s drawer.”

4. May 19, 3:10pm, Robbery – Old Spanish Bridge Mart, Agat 

“A male individual entered the Old Spanish Bridge Mart in Agat brandishing a pistol demanding money from the loan cashier within the store.  The cashier who was terrified of the suspect froze behind the register when the suspect pointed the firearm at her.  The suspect then jumped over the counter, forced the cash register open and fled with undetermined amount of cash. Surveillance camera revealed that the suspect fled in a  black Toyota Camry onto Rt. 2 towards the Agat village.”

5. May 20, 10:15pm, Robbery – Lada Mart, Dededo

“A male individual entered the Lada Mart in Dededo brandishing a hunting rifle and demanded money.  The suspect then went behind the counter  and ordered the female victim to the ground and began removing cash from the cash register.  The suspect then proceeded to a cabinet directly beside the register and took a money bag containing more than a thousand dollars in U.S. Currency.  Before fleeing the suspect grabbed an unknown amount of cigarettes and left in an unknown direction.

GPD HEADQUARTERS, TIYAN – 8:00pm, Friday, May 23, 2014, after a manhunt lasting several days, officers with the Criminal Justice Strike Force was able to apprehend and arrest Mr. Fred Samuel Quinata who is believed to be responsible for committing several armed robberies around the island.

January of this year the Criminal Investigating Division and Criminal Justice Strike Force executed a search warrant at a residence in Dededo where Quinata was apprehended and arrested after robbing a Gameroom. Although no-one was injured during the robbery Quinata used a Hammer and a sword to threaten Gameroom patrons.

On January 19, 2014 Governor Eddie Calvo signed Executive Order No 002-14 establishing the Criminal Justice Strike Force to lead the war against violent crimes.
