Guam – Updates on the Port of Guam’s construction projects, including modernization projects and ongoing security upgrades, were presented this afternoon at the Rotary Club of Guam meeting.
Port of Guam General Manager Joanne Brown was the guest speaker at the meeting.
She said they are not just hardening the physical infrastructure of the port but also it’s technological capabilities.
As far as status goes, Brown said things are moving very well and the main focus is minimizing the impact of schedule and taking in cargo with all the construction going on.
Brown said, “We did the ground breaking for Phase 3 and now Black Construction is underway with the construction related to expanding our yard and building a new gatehouse. We’re also doing security upgrades as far as security cameras to ensure our yard and operation facilities are under 24/7 surveillance and a number of other reasons. We’re finalizing the construction of our new security facility and that shortly we’ll be doing a ribbon cutting ceremony on that next month.”
She said another project the port is working on is the footprint of the terminal operating system which will track all cargo going in and out of the port electronically.
