VIDEO: The Table Tennis World Comes to Guam

Guam – The world’s best youth table tennis players are on Guam for the 2012 World Cadet Challenge.  Some of the participants include:

GIRLS

– HE Zhuojia, from China, born on 25th October 1998, and number 1 on the ITTF October 2012 Cadet Girls World Ranking

– ITO Mima, from Japan, born on 21st October 2000, so actually the second youngest player at the tournament. Despite her short age, she is the number 2 in the ITTF October 2012 Cadet Girls World Ranking and she holds two records:

 

 

 

 

1) Being the youngest player to win a Cadet (15 years and under) event at an ITTF Global Junior Circuit event. She won the Korean Cadet Open Singles event on 27th August 2011, when she was still 10 years and 10 months old.

2) Being the youngest player to win a Junior (18 years and under) event at an ITTF Global Junoir Circuit event. She won the Chinese Taipei Junior Open Singles event on the record of being the youngest player having won a Junior Circuit event on 18th September 2011, when she was 10 years and nearly eleven months old.

BOYS

– SAMBE Kohei, from Japan, born on 13th July 1997 and number 5 in the ITTF October 2012 Cadet Boys World Ranking

– SONG Xu, from China, born on 10th March 1997 and number 7 in the ITTF October 2012 Cadet Girls World Ranking

-Adriana DIAZ from Puerto Rico, born on 31st October 2000 is the youngest player at the tournament. He is ranked number 89 in the World Ranking but winner of the Canadian Cadet Open Singles event earlier this month.
