Guam – The Agat Marina will be getting some long needed repairs, thanks to a $250,000 grant from the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council.
The grant was presented to the Port Authority of Guam during a ceremony earlier this week. Port General Manager Marry Torres is pleased the marina will finally be getting attention, since most of port’s recreational users dock their boats in Agat.
“What we’ll do initially is repair docks A and B,” Torres told PNC.
While more repairs are needed than the funds will cover, Torres says the $250,000 is a welcome start.
“The Port is looking out for the interest of the Agat Marina and we are trying to identity other fundings that may be immediately available so that we complete what is urgently needed to repair all of the docks” said Torres.
The Agat Marina was built by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1989 and is one of only two small boat marinas used for recreational purposes on Guam.
