A virtual proclamation was held Monday to proclaim January 31 to February 6 as Catholic Schools Week, acknowledging the contributions Catholic education has made to the island community.
Governor Lou Leon Guerrero spoke of her experiences as a Catholic school alum and credits the successes she and other professionals have gained through their education system.
“I would just like to share that there were really good memories and very good teachers providing education for our people for over 70 years. You see doctors that come from that education, public officials that have come from that education, nurses, lawyers, professional, very highly skilled, vocational professions that had come from a Catholic education,” Leon Guerrero said.
This year’s proclamation was also read by student representatives of all 14 Catholic schools.
