A virtual proclamation signing was held recently to proclaim March as Red Cross Month

The American Red Cross Guam Chapter has been serving the island for 96 years.

During the trying times of the pandemic, the Guam chapter has done its part to continue with its mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of an emergency.

Monica Duenas, Red Cross Guam Board Secretary, said: “Whether it was to respond to this year’s record-breaking disasters across the country or rolling up their sleeves to respond to single-family home fires, flash floods, or supplying drinking water to the front liners, in 2021, the Guam Red Cross responded to 22 disaster incidents and served 111 clients. The chapter continues to provide water to the Mayors Council, Guam Homeland Security, and various nonprofit organizations assisting in the pandemic effort.”

In 2020, to assist GovGuam during the pandemic, the Red Cross Guam Chapter also initiated sheltered management training within a Covid-19 environment and had 130 participants.

They plan to start the training again this year.
