Guam – Volunteers from the Naval Hospital decided to give a helping hand to the community of Guam and Guam Animals In Need this Easter Weekend.
They provided the manpower needed to repair a lot of little projects that have been needing attention at the Yigo Animal Shelter. Dom San Gil of Dom’s Maintenance provided direction and some of the supplies and tools needed to perform the repairs.
San Gil is not a stranger to GAIN or the animal shelter; his company, Dom’s Maintenance, donates the manpower and machinery to mow and maintain the property every few weeks for nothing more than GAIN’s heartfelt thanks. San Gil said, “I just do what I can do to help the community.”
The volunteers from the Naval Hospital were corpsmen from many different departments throughout the hospital. One of the corpsmen, Katy Anderson said, “We’re happy to provide the help to GAIN. Guam is our home while we are stationed here,” as she stroked a tail-wagging boonie dog she was taking for a walk.
The volunteers replaced leaky spigots to save a little water and erected a new cover over the freezers to lower the cost of electricity bill. When they weren’t working on maintenance, they provided a little socializing to the temporary residents by taking the dogs on walks and playing with kittens in the cat house.
