VOTE 2012 – Polls Open Until 8pm; Some Names Missing From Election Rolls But GEC Reports No Major Problems

226

Guam -The polls opened at 7am this morning and will remain open until 8pm this evening. The GEC says no major problems have been reported.

Although GEC Executive Director Maria Pangelinan told us there have been a couple of dozen people at various polling stations who have reported that there names were not on the election rolls. They had to fill out provisional ballots.

One man caused a stir when he was asked to leave a polling station for electioneering, because he was wearing a t-shirt that said “Vote Aguon.” Otherwise, she says, no major problems have been reported.

Pangelinan said that one of the 2 tabulators that was malfunctioning yesterday, has been restored to service and 3 tabulators will be in operation counting the vote tonight. That is the same number that counted the Primary vote in September.

She declined to estimate when all the votes would be counted. In the Primary Election, the final tally was not finished until 5 am the following morning.
