Guam – Vice-Speaker B.J. Cruz says that voters should re-elect him because he is finishing what is probably the best term he’s ever had in the legislature.
The lawmaker is proud of his protection of children through the passage of a law that lifts the statute of limitations on sex crimes committed against minors. He’s also proud that they were able to outlaw spice and save GovGuam $9-$12 million dollars by mandating that mental health create a fee schedule.
“What I really would like to do in the upcoming term is to make sure that the government of Guam collects the revenue that it should be collecting that there shouldn’t be a dollar out there that we’re losing. I don’t want to increase taxes and I don’t think it would be necessary if this government collected what is due and owed to it I think we’d be able to handle our budgetary needs adequately,” said Cruz. Cruz is running for re-election on the Democratic ticket.
