Guam – Current Tamuning Vice Mayor Louise Rivera ran against and defeated her boss, the current Mayor, Francisco Blas in the Republican primary for that village.
And newcomer Ken Santos beat out Rudolpho Borja for the Vice-Mayoral postiion in that village.
Mayor Blas told PNC Saturday he didn’t understand why Rivera was challenging him, after they worked together as a team.
“She wants to take the role” said Blas. “I respect her, but she should respect me too as the Mayor and wait til my time is up…and then she can come in. Then, with my whole heart I will support her with my whole family. Very simple.”
However, Rivera believed it was her time to run and felt a lot of support from her village.
“You know, it’s time” said Rivera. “No matter what, we will continue to work together all the way to the end. So may the best person win.”
