76 years since World War II, a war survivor received her honorary high school diploma last Friday from the Guam Department of Education.
Dressed in the purple and gold robe from George Washington High School, Dolores Naputi Aguon Tenorio accepted fresh flowers and a wooden plaque to celebrate her achievement.
Tenorio is the eldest of 15 siblings and quit school after the war to help them and her family. According to a statement from GDOE, she is a proud mother to seven children, 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
The honorary diploma honors those in the community who lived through World War II who were unable to finish their formal education because of the war.
