Weather Causes Delay in Start of Special Session

Guam – Vice Speaker B.J. Cruz called the legislature to order about 9:15 this morning and immediately moved to delay the start of the Special Session until 1 this afternoon.

Governor Calvo called the Special Session seeking to have lawmakers re-consider his budget which includes his contentious $343 million dollar tax refund bond proposal after he vetoed the Legislature’s budget bill yesterday afternoon.

Vice-Spear Cruz called for the delay to allow Senators delayed by the weather to get to the Session Hall and to allow the lawmakers and their staff more time to review the Governor re-submitted budget.
