Weather Update: Jan. 15 to Jan. 18

Marianas – Buenas yan Hafa Adai folks, here is a look at your local weather updates for Jan. 15th (Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day) to Jan. 18th (Wednesday). A High Surf Advisory has since been issued by the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam particularly along north facing reefs. We can expect hazardous surf of 7-10 feet along north facing reefs through Tuesday, to diminish to between 7-9 feet by Tuesday evening and then falling below hazardous levels on Wednesday. Other than our Advisory, we are looking at mostly sunny skies for the next three days, with breezy East winds as well.  

GUAHAN (GUAM):

Monday (MLK Day) – Mostly sunny skies with East winds of 15-20 mph with gusts as high as 23 mph, which will keep our heat indexes between 88 and 100 degrees. Highs will be at 88 and lows at 78.

Tuesday – Mostly sunny skies with East winds of 15-20 mph with gusts as high as 22 mph. Highs will be at 87 and lows at 78.

Wednesday – Mostly sunny skies with slight chances for isolated showers. East winds will be at 15-20 mph with gusts as high as 23 mph. Highs will be at 87 and lows at 78.

LUTA (ROTA):

Monday (MLK Day) – Mostly sunny skies with East winds of 15-20 mph with gusts as high as 22 mph, which will keep our heat indexes between 86 and 100 degrees. Highs will be at 87 and lows at 78.

Tuesday – Mostly sunny skies with East winds of 10-15 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph. Highs will be at 87 and lows at 78.

Wednesday – Mostly sunny skies with slight chances for some isolated showers. East winds will be at 10-15 mph with gusts as high as 22 mph. Highs will be at 87 and lows at 78.

TINI’AN (TINIAN):

Monday (MLK DAY) – Mostly sunny skies with East winds of 10-15 mph and gusts as high as 22 mph, which will keep our heat index between 86 and 100 degrees. Highs will be at 87 and lows at 78.

Tuesday – Mostly sunny skies with East winds of 10-15 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph. Highs will be at 87 and lows at 78.

Wednesday – Mostly sunny skies with East winds of 10-15 mph with gusts as high as 22 mph. Highs will be at 87 and lows at 78.

SA’IPAN (SAIPAN):

Monday (MLK Day) – Mostly sunny skies with East winds coming in at 10-15 mph with gusts as high as 21 mph, keeping our heat indexes between 86 and 100 degrees. Highs will be at 87 and lows at 78.

Tuesday – Mostly sunny skies with East winds of 10-15 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph. Highs will be at 87 and lows at 78.

Wednesday – Mostly sunny skies with slight chances for some isolated showers. East winds will be at 10-15 mph with gusts as high as 22 mph. Highs will be at 87 and lows at 78.

A High Surf Advisory will remain in effect until 6 am on Wednesday, so it is advised that you avoid venturing near reef lines and exposed beaches, especially those facing north, as rip currents will be life threatening.
