Westin’s award-winning buffet restaurant Taste is back, better than ever

The Westin Resort Guam’s award-winning buffet restaurant Taste is back!

On Thursday night, Taste welcomed guests at their soft-opening with their signature dishes.

Back in March 2020, like many businesses during the beginning of the pandemic, Taste had to close during the first lockdown.

One year after, the signature buffet restaurant known for its international cuisine, seafood station on ice, and guest favorites steak and lobster, has now finally re-opened.

Westin Resort Guam General Manager Nick Song says they were very fortunate to be able to stay in business despite the challenges of the pandemic.

The restaurant is now fully booked for the next two weeks

“I know that Taste is one of the best buffet restaurants in town so I knew we were going to get busy, but I didn’t expect to be this busy. I’m also happy to be bringing back the associates who’ve started coming back to work. They are really excited to come back to work and I’m happy to give them the opportunity to work together,” Song said.

One of the biggest changes Taste has made since reopening is featuring their new executive chef, Karl Lee.

“He came from Saipan, originally from Korea. He has a lot of experience in 5-star hotels including the top Hyatt and Marriott hotels. His specialty is Korean and Japanese cuisine as well as steaks. We’re really excited to have him in the restaurant. People will love his cuisine,” Song said.

During the soft opening, Taste also treated guests to live performances by local musicians Jesse and Ruby.

Knowing Taste has a reputable standing on island, Song says he wants to make sure that the restaurant maintains the high quality of the food and continues to meet guests’ expectations.

Taste is located inside the Westin Resort hotel in Tumon.
