Woman sexually assaulted by man brandishing a knife

Guam – Police are searching for a male suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman before stealing her car.

The incident allegedly occurred on yesterday evening at the Ipan Beach Park in Talafofo. Police say that two women were sitting along the beach when an unknown man approached them from behind.

The man according to police was brandishing a knife and instructed the women to place their face in the sand.

According to the victim the man then demanded the victim’s keys and money.

As the victim laid with her face in the sand, the man allegedly began sexually assaulting the woman causing the victim’s friend to “scream out in fear.”

Police say the scream resulted in the suspect to stop and flee with the victim’s black Toyota Camry.

The vehicle was seen heading south on Route 4, Chalan Kenton Tasi in Ipan Talafofo.

According to GPD Spokesperson Sgt. Paul Tapao, the suspect is described as possibly Chamorro with a medium build, having short hair or possibly bald. He was last seen wearing a red jacket and blue jeans.

Tapao adds that prior to the assault between the hours of 6:45 and 7 p.m. the suspect was seen sitting on a park bench within the park.

The two women were transported to the Guam Memorial Hospital.
