Woman Who Sought and Received Bone Marrow Transplant Has Died

Guam – Sad news about a woman who pleaded with Guamanians for help to find a bone marrow donor match to help her fight cancer.

Janet Liang of California has died from leukemia. She made a tearful plea on Guam earlier this year in search of Asian Americans to sign up as potential bone marrow donors.

A bone marrow drive was held in February of this year and more than 700 people signed up. Both Janet and former Guam resident Joey Tyquiengco had been seeking a match.

Janet died on Sept. 11th, nearly a week after receiving a transplant from a near perfect match.
