Guam – Speaker Judith Won Pat has issued a statement in response to the killing of al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden in which she expressed relief at the death of the mastermind of the worst terrorist attacks on American soil.
Speaker Won Pat’s statement appears below:
“I join Gov Eddie Calvo, Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo and all the people of Guam and America in our relief that the world’s most wanted terrorist will no longer be able harm another human being.”
“We owe a huge debt of gratitude to all of those who have sacrificed to preserve our freedom. Let us also remember the families of the victims who may now have some relief in knowing that justice has been served. Let us not forget our very own brave sons and daughters from Guam and Micronesia who fought and died in the Middle East and dedicated their lives for our country’s freedom in the war on terrorism.”
“In continuing the fight on terrorism, we must be mindful that al-Qaeda and its terrorist allies still exist and are still very dangerous. We shall follow the
directives of the U.S. and Guam Homeland Security in ensuring safety for all of those living on Guam and traveling abroad.”
