Guam – Yigo Mayor Rudy Matanane says his office will be accepting donations on behalf of a family living in deplorable conditions in Yigo.
“We’re asking the public to please help out in this situation. It’s very unfortunate that there’s two kids involved here,” the mayor said.
Yesterday we reported about a situation in Yigo in which a family of two young girls and their father were living in deplorable conditions. The minors, ages 8 and 7, and their father are squatters. They were living in a tin and wood structure that was ravaged by Typhoon Dolphin.
The father, Billy Fejeran, told us that because of his unfortunate situation, he has not been able to rebuild the structure. He and his daughters live in half a home with barely a food above their heads. There’s no power and only a garden hose brings them water.
Matanane says his office is communicating with the family and they are trying to assist them. Since our story first aired last night, many Guam residents have responded, offering their donations and support. Mayor Rudy says he’s happy to accept donations on behalf of the family.
You can contact the Yigo Mayor’s Office at 653-9446, 653-9119 or through the cell phone numbers 898-8315 or 777-9446.
The mayor says his office will also be donating some materials to Fejeran and he’ll also be contacting Guam Housing Corporation and the Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority for assistance in finding the family a shelter.
