Yona’s mayor-elect Bill Quenga was officially sworn in today at the Guam Election Commission office in Hagåtña.

Quenga garnered around 42 percent of the votes cast during last month’s special election to fill the vacancy left by former Yona Mayor Jesse Blas who is currently facing federal extortion charges.

A total of 1534 ballots — around 52 percent of nearly 3,000 Yona voters — were cast in the special election.
